Description
Ursa Major Cabin is named for the constellation "Big Bear", which is also the Big Dipper. This is our newest cabin on Star Gap road, set on a private 5 acre lot in the heart of the Red River Gorge. It is about 1/2 mile from the Red River and 10 minutes from Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge Geological Area and the Daniel Boone National Forest hiking trails. Explore trails by day and sit back and relax around the fire circle and view stars at night. Or sit and view stars from the hot tub out back. This modern cabin has concrete counters, big windows with views, a large ktichen, two bedrooms rooms with queen size beds, a large bathroom with a full bath tub. In the winter, enjoy the wood burning fireplace for a cozy enviroment. There is a grill, patio, firepit and plenty of outdoor space to hang out in the warmer weather. We reguarly see dear crossing the yard or standing to graze on the spacious grassy area out front. Be aware of chiggers in the yard if you sit and have a picnic on the grass!

Our cabins are located in a rural area. Therefore, while our cabins have Wi-Fi, it is often not as reliable as you may be accustomed to.

Our stay completely exceeded our expectations. Ursa Major was amazing. It had everything we needed and more. The cabin was easy to find, clean, included clear instructions on everything, and the amenities were even better than described.
We would venture out and hike during the day, but the cabin was cozy enough to make a whole day of just relaxing there. loved that it felt rural and private while also being a short drive from anything we wanted to do. The hot tub and fire pit didn't hurt either!
Booking was easy and friendly. The communications after booking definitely make you feel more like a guest than a transaction.

Ursa Major was a perfect spot to rest and hike with our family! Comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, and gorgeous views! We visited in early spring and were able to watch the trees bloom during our stay. Super close to all the hikes and a perfect place to rest and play together as a family. The stars were also perfect from the porch! Thanks for an awesome stay!

Ursa Major was the perfect place to have a girls weekend. The space was the perfect blend of modern and simplicity. The open concept living space was really great while one of us was cooking and the other was knitting in front of the fireplace (my old dog enjoyed the fire too). Seriously great view of the snow and front yard with the window-wall. The hot tub was a great place to relax with wine after our hikes. We really enjoyed the space and look forward to going back there with our spouses next time!
